Borussia Dortmund seeks redemption in Champions League Final
Dortmund takes on Real Madrid in a rematch of the 1997 Final
Borussia Dortmund will attempt to upset the odds and win the Champions League on Saturday when they face Real Madrid in the Final at Wembley Stadium in London.
Dortmund, who won the trophy in 1997, qualified for the Final by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 on aggregate in the semifinals. Real Madrid, meanwhile, advanced to the Final by beating Manchester City 6-5 on aggregate in the semifinals.
On paper, Real Madrid is the favorite to win the Final. The Spanish giants have won the Champions League a record 13 times, including four times in the last seven years. Dortmund, on the other hand, has only won the trophy once. However, anything can happen in a one-off match, and Dortmund will be hoping to spring an upset.
Dortmund will be looking to their talismanic striker Erling Haaland to lead them to victory. The Norwegian forward has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season, including 10 in the Champions League. Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be looking to their own star-studded attack, which includes Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, and Eden Hazard.
The Final is sure to be a thrilling encounter between two of the best teams in Europe. Dortmund will be hoping to create history by winning the trophy for the second time, while Real Madrid will be looking to add to their already impressive haul of titles.
