Blues Kick-Off Campaign in Style
Chelsea kicked off their pre-season campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over Wrexham, thanks to braces from Ian Maatsen and Christopher Nkunku, as well as goals from Conor Gallagher and Ben Chilwell. The match, played at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, marked Mauricio Pochettino's first game in charge of the Blues.
The visitors got off to a great start, with Maatsen scoring twice in the first half. Gallagher doubled the lead early in the second half, and Nkunku sealed the victory with a late goal. Chilwell added a fourth in stoppage time to complete the rout.
Chelsea will be looking to build on this positive result as they continue their preparations for the upcoming season. Their next pre-season fixture is against Club America in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 22.
