He Didnt Want It Deco Reveals The Truth Behind Former Barcelona Gems Move To Chelsea

‘He didn’t want it’… Deco reveals the truth behind former Barcelona gem’s move to Chelsea

Former Chelsea winger Deco has lifted the lid on the circumstances surrounding his move to Stamford Bridge in 2008, revealing that it was not his desire to leave Barcelona.

Deco was a key member of the Barcelona team that won the Champions League in 2006, but he was sold to Chelsea two years later in a deal worth around £8 million.

Speaking to The Guardian, Deco said that he was surprised by Barcelona’s decision to sell him, and that he did not want to leave the club.

“I didn’t want to leave Barcelona,” Deco said. “I was very happy there, and I had a good relationship with the fans and the players.

“But the club decided to sell me, and I had to accept it.”

Deco said that he was aware of Chelsea’s interest in him, but that he did not think that a move to England was the right step for him at that time.

“I knew that Chelsea were interested in me, but I didn’t think that it was the right move for me at that time,” Deco said.

“I was happy at Barcelona, and I didn’t want to leave.”

However, Deco said that he was eventually persuaded to join Chelsea by the club’s then-manager, Jose Mourinho.

“Mourinho is a great manager, and he convinced me to join Chelsea,” Deco said.

“He told me that he wanted me to be a key part of his team, and that he thought I could help Chelsea win trophies.”

Deco went on to win two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and one League Cup during his time at Chelsea.

He also played a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph in 2012.

Deco said that he is grateful for the opportunity to have played for Chelsea, but that he still has fond memories of his time at Barcelona.

“I had a great time at Chelsea, but Barcelona will always be a special club to me,” Deco said.

“I still have a lot of friends there, and I always follow their results.”
